Welcome to the GPCRTOP Prediction Server The GPCRTOP is a 112 state HMM-based prediction server which is trained by the viterbi algorithm to predict the positions of GPCR transmemberane (TM) segments and number of TM residues located in these segments. The GPCRTOP predicts based on only raw protein sequences without considering the multiple alignment processes and physicochemical properties of aminoacids.The GPCRTOP is designed to predict GPCR's TM positions and number of helical resudies, as well as a tool to aid biomedical, chemical and pharmaceutical scientists with answering questions by offering a single point of access to prediction of a protein sequence that is integrated and visualized in a user-friendly way. GPCR Definition

G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) : also known as seven-transmembrane domain receptors, 7TM receptors, heptahelical receptors, serpentine receptor, and G protein-linked receptors (GPLR), constitute a large protein family of receptors that sense molecules outside the cell and activate inside signal transduction pathways and, ultimately, cellular responses. They are called transmembrane receptors because they pass through the cell membrane, and they are called seven-transmembrane receptors because they pass through the cell membrane seven times."
